Course Curriculum

The course is self-paced with a deadline of one year from the date of enrollment. Our course curriculum is offered 100% online but students have the option of attending most classes live for credit. Live lessons are held twice a week on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:15 to 7:20pm. Students will need to check the online calendar to be sure class is being held, the calendar is updated on a month to month basis.

Each lesson is taught by lecture and is two hours and five minutes in length. Students are required to watch or attend 120 hours of lectured training in order to meet the pre-licensing requirements.

Each online lesson is interactive and divided into video segments. This means that, approximately every 7-15 minutes, there will be a question you must answer correctly in order to continue onto the next segment. If the question is answered incorrectly, the previous segment will replay over again until answered correctly. Segments also serve as check points for saving progress. In order to ensure that students are attentive during the lectures and do not skip through the material the fast forward and rewind feature has been disabled A video may be paused but progress is only saved after the completion of a segment. Your place will be lost if you exit your browser or reload the webpage mid segment and you will be required to re-start from the beginning of that segment.

Students are strongly encouraged to READ the assigned chapters prior to watching or attending a lesson lecture. You will get much more out of each lecture if you have already carefully read and studied the material. Pay attention to the difference between the lesson number and the chapter number as they are usually not the same.

It is recommended that students follow along with their textbook and jot down any questions they might have next to that topic.  It is also recommended that students open the associated PowerPoint found under Reference Material on the lesson overview pages. All answers to the interactive questions can be found in the PowerPoints, press (Ctrl + f) to search for key words if you have trouble finding an answer.

Each video segment must be viewed in its entirety to receive full credit for a lesson. You will see a green check mark next to completed video segments. Once all segments are complete you will see a green check mark next to that lesson on the lessons menu. Optional exercises are available for most lessons but are not required.

Practice Tests

After you have completed all of the lessons, you may begin to take practice tests. Practice tests are not required before you take our school finals, but they serve as a useful study guide and we highly recommend that you take several before attempting the finals. This is for several reasons. First, after taking practice tests, you are allowed to review the answers. This is very helpful in locating trouble spots and improving your next score. We encourage you to keep taking practice tests until you reach 90 percent or more. This ensures that you are well prepared for both our school finals and the licensing exams.

Tips for taking practice exams:

  • Have a calculator on hand.
  • When reviewing your practice exam, concentrate on the answers that you did not get correct. It is not necessary to study material that you already know.
  • Use your book to studying the material associated with the questions you missed, it will not be sufficient to only memorize the correct answers. (i.e. if you miss a question regarding littoral water rights, you should take time to study all types of water rights).

Final Exams

Final exams are available online but can also be taken at the academy. Tests will be administered anytime during our office hours up until an hour before we close 9am – 4pm. Two finals are required, one for the State portion and one for the National portion. These tests can be completed separately and in any order. There are 100 questions on the national final and 50 questions on the state final. You must score 80% or better to pass. If you fail a final, you may retake it, but you are required to wait until the next day. Please remember that unlike practice tests, you are not allowed to review the answers to the final exams until after you pass.

By signing the New Student Orientation Packet you acknowledge that you have been made aware and that you agree to keep all course material including all Practice & Final exam questions confidential. You also agree to take the Final Exams as an individual. Students who share test information or who are caught teaming up will be expelled from Harman Real Estate Academy and all achieved credit hours will be forfeited at no refund.

After the Final

After you pass the finals, you will need to obtain a Certificate of Completion from the Harman Real Estate Academy before you will be allowed to take the licensing exam. Before signing your certificate, we will check several things: first, that all of your lessons are completed and signed off by one of the school coordinators, second, that both of the school finals were completed with a score of 80% or higher. Once you meet all of the qualifications and receive your certificate you are then officially “pre-certified” and ready for the licensing exam.

The Licensing Exam

After you receive your certificate of completion, you will then need to schedule your licensing exam with a Pearson VUE testing center. You will need your original certificate in hand when you schedule and when you arrive to take the test.

If you have taken all of the Practice Tests and passed our school finals with an 80% or better, you should have no trouble passing the exam. Please take advantage of the Practice Tests and other supplementary materials provided by the school. They will greatly increase both your understanding of Real Estate and your likelihood of passing the state exam.
